Schmitt Woodland Hills Richland County’s trusted home for seniors since 1965. We’d love to show you around and answer any questions you or your family may have.
Our Non-Profit Mission of Lifelong Care
Schmitt Woodland Hills is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. That means one thing: every decision we make is guided by mission, not money. There are no owners, shareholders, or investors taking profit. All funds we receive go directly toward our mission of providing excellent, compassionate care for our residents.
When you or your loved one chooses Schmitt Woodland Hills, you're choosing an organization accountable to a higher purpose. We're governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors who are committed to our mission, not a bottom line. Any operating surplus—money left over after expenses—doesn't leave our community. It gets reinvested directly into better care, new programs, staff development, and improved amenities for our residents.
Schmitt Woodland Hills is part of the Health & Welfare Ministry of the Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Wisconsin Conference supports 14 Health and Welfare Ministries across the state, serving people of all faiths and races as an outreach of the Methodist tradition. While our roots are faith-based, we opened our doors to serve all residents, regardless of their beliefs—and in 1981, we restructured as Schmitt Woodland Hills to reflect that inclusive commitment.
How We're Sustained
We receive no ongoing financial support from the United Methodist Church beyond the annual Golden Cross Sunday offering. Instead, we sustain our mission through:
Operating Income
The care and services we provide—from skilled nursing to independent living—generate the revenue that keeps our doors open and our mission alive. This operating income allows us to be self-sufficient and responsive to our residents’ needs without depending on external funding.
Private Gifts & Donations
Generous supporters like you make our mission possible. Whether through financial gifts, planned giving, or volunteer service, donations help us expand programs, enhance amenities, and ensure that cost is never a barrier to quality care. Your investment directly impacts the lives of our residents.
Wise Stewardship
We manage every dollar with intention and transparency. Resources are allocated thoughtfully—prioritizing resident care, staff excellence, and facility improvements. We believe that good stewardship means respecting what’s been entrusted to us and using it wisely for the greatest good.
Amenities That Support the Whole Person
Hair care, housekeeping, spiritual support, therapy, and more — all on-site, so life stays full and worry-free.
